The Pasadena South Rotary recently honored Sam Rayburn High School students Elizabeth Rosenbaum and Omar Perales as Junior Rotarians of the Month.
Rosenbaum, a senior at Sam Rayburn, enjoys science and swimming. After graduating, she hopes to attend Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas to earn her degree in biology and pursue a career in plastic surgery.
Perales, also a senior, is ranked third in his class of 726 and holds a 5.43 GPA. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the vice president of the National Math Honor Society, and President of the College Club. Omar won the Academic Excellence Award, AP Scholar Award and AP Scholar with Honors Award.
He was recently chosen as one of 25 Houston-area high school football players to receive a scholarship for college during a ceremony at the Greater Houston High School Football Scholar-Athlete Luncheon. Hosted by the Touchdown Club of Houston at the J.W. Marriott’s Liberty Hall, Perales and the others were selected by the presidents of Houston Baptist University, University of Houston, Texas Southern University and Rice University.
After graduating, Perales hopes to attend Texas A&M University or the University of Texas to earn his degree in Engineering.
