Gloria Gallegos, associate superintendent of Special Programs, gets parents excited about opportunities available at San Jacinto College.
Nearly 150 parents throughout the Pasadena ISD gathered at the administration building for an informational meeting about continuing educational and professional development opportunities offered at San Jacinto College.
The event, hosted by the Office of Special Programs in collaboration with San Jacinto College, is part of the district’s “Path to College” initiative, which provides parents with the tools and support to help them be successful.
The goal of the informational meeting, according to Associate Superintendent Gloria Gallegos, was to provide guidance to parents ready for the next step in their career planning process. Parents also received information about entry-level job training opportunities and certification programs.
“There are numerous opportunities available in the area, especially at San Jacinto College, that can provide you with the knowledge and training in various occupations,” Gallegos said to parents.
“We want to let you know that we are here to help you excel in every capacity – as parents, as students seeking higher educational opportunities and as employees who want to receive professional training and certification.”
Program organizers said there is a myriad of free training and support service opportunities for adults interested in industrial, engineering, health, business and computer pathways.
