The Pasadena ISD business office has earned five prestigious awards for their excellence and commitment to fiscal integrity and high-quality financial reporting.
“It is an honor to be recognized for the work we did as a team, but we are most proud of the two documents we produced,” said Nina Conway, executive director of business services. “They are excellent resources for all staff, board members and the community that contain valuable information about funding, enrollment growth and staff increases as well as other general information about the district as a whole.”
Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle
The Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle program was created in December 2009 to recognize local cities, counties and school districts across Texas that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency online.
Pasadena ISD has been recognized every year since that time winning top awards each year. From 2010-2013 the district earned four gold level awards, the top level at that time. In 2014 and 2015, consecutive platinum level awards were earned, the state’s highest honor.
The Comptroller’s Office has now changed the recognition program to “Transparency Stars”. This recognition is for exemplary efforts in creating financial transparency around public services and spending decisions. Setting the bar for financial transparency extremely high, Pasadena ISD is being recognized for providing citizens with a clear picture of District spending information, audit reports, budgets, and other financial reports.
Association of School Business Officials International
The business office earned two awards through the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). For the fourteenth consecutive year, Pasadena ISD earned the Meritorious Budget Award for excellence in the preparation and issuance of a system annual budget.
The district also earned the ASBO Certificate of Excellence Award for the comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2015. This is the third year Pasadena ISD has been presented with this achievement.
Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada
The business office also became one of only 14 school districts in Texas to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The organization also recognized the district’s financial report ending August 31, 2015, with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
