High School Students Encouraged to Attend College Night, Nov. 10
Over 700 Pasadena ISD and Deer Park students participated in last year's College Night Fair. Pasadena and Deer Park are continuing this tradition on Nov. 10 at Deer Park High - South Campus.
Pasadena ISD is gearing up for College Week, Nov. 7-11, with a special College Night fair at Deer Park High School - South Campus, Nov. 10, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The annual celebration is designed to get students of all grade levels excited about higher education and to help them begin planning for their college careers.
Throughout the week, campuses will participate in various activities, each day focusing on a different theme, like college shirt day, in which faculty and students show their school pride.
Hosted by Pasadena ISD in partnership with Deer Park ISD, students participating in College Night will have the opportunity to talk with representatives from over 80 college and universities to begin planning the next step in their educational journey.
Last year, College Night attracted over 700 Deer Park and Pasadena ISD students and representatives from United States military, naval academies and Coast Guard. Several colleges and universities were in attendance including San Jacinto College, University of Houston campuses, Rice, several University of Texas branches, Harvard, Yale and Penn State.
This year, Chandra Gonzalez, scholarship manager with Project GRAD Houston, will deliver the keynote address during the financial aid presentation at 7 p.m. in the school’s café.
Campuses are encouraged to take pictures of their College Week experience and use #CollegeWeek16 to share photos with Pasadena ISD on Facebook and Twitter.
