DEER PARK – The Dobie boys’ soccer team advanced to the Region III semifinals after a 2-0 victory over North Shore at Abshier Stadium Tuesday night.
Early in the first half, Edwin Saldivar (10) had a clean drive right into the box but was tripped from behind and granted a free kick, which he converted to start the scoring for Dobie.
Moments later, Kevin Hernandez (14) continued to show off his scoring prowess as he scored the Longhorn’s second and final goal of the night - his third goal in two games.
The second half remained scoreless as the Longhorns clamped down on defense and frustrated North Shore with their physical play and suffocating defense.
Dobie advances to play Katy Seven Lakes on Friday at 7 p.m. in Deer Park.
