Welcome to the
Internal Audit Department
This page was developed to provide information about the Pasadena Independent School District Internal Audit Department and to provide useful information regarding the audit process and internal controls. As established by the Board, the role of the Internal Audit Department shall be to provide an independent and objective evaluation and assurance to assist the Board and the District’s administration in accomplishing District objectives by implementing a systemic and disciplined approach for evaluating the District’s risk management, control, and governance processes. The Internal Audit Department operations are conducted in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
The Internal Audit Department conducts regularly scheduled audits, special audits at the request of the Board or Superintendent, and follow-up audits on significant findings from previous audits. Internal Audit conducts investigations of possible fraud and misuse of district property or personnel as they arise. We audit or review the systems established to ensure compliance with policies, plans, procedures, laws and regulations that could significantly affect operations and reports and whether the District is in compliance. We monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the District’s risk management system. In addition to formal audits and control assessments, we are happy to answer questions regarding specific policies and procedures and act as consultants on internal controls. We work with parent organizations to ensure all required documents are obtained and submitted as per District Board Policy GE (Relations with Parent Organizations).
The purpose, authority, and responsibility of the Internal Audit Department is defined in the Internal Audit Charter which is approved by the Board. The charter clearly outlines the purpose of the internal auditing department and can be found in its entirety under the Charter tab.
