Matthys Dress Code Shirts shall be either a collared polo style or collared oxford style shirt appropriately sized with sleeves and free of inappropriate designs which include, but are not limited to, those related to death, sex, drugs, alcohol, gangs, or weapons. Turtlenecks and t-shirts may be worn underneath the standardized shirt and shall be appropriately sized and free of inappropriate designs which include, but are not limited to, those related to death sex, drugs, alcohol, gangs or weapons. Shirts must remain tucked in at all times.
Pants shall be either solid navy, khaki, black, or gray, free of design and hemmed. Pants/Jeans must meet the following criteria:

Shorts/Skorts/Capri Pants Elementary Schools Grades PK-5 Shorts/skorts shall be either solid khaki, navy, black, brown, or gray, and free of designs, appropriately sized and the length must be no higher than 2 inches above the kneecap. Solid color blue , khaki, black, brown or gray denim shorts/skorts free of designs, appropriately sized and no higher than 2 inches above the kneecap are permitted. Elementary students will participate in physical education activities with the clothes they wear to school. Capri pants are permitted as long as they meet all criteria listed under the Pants and/or Jeans section. Belts are required for garments made with belt loops in grades 3 through 12. Spirit/D.A.R.E. Shirts may be worn on days designated by the campus principal. Girl Scout and Boy Scout uniforms are appropriate at any time. Shoes Students must wear shoes with backs that are appropriate for school. (Students participating in physical education activities must have appropriate shoes.) Skate shoes are not permitted. Shoes must be fastened at all times. Sweaters/Sweat Shirts/Light Jackets may be worn over the "polo style" or "oxford style" standardized dress shirt. The collar of the standardized shirt must be visible at all times. Sweaters/sweat shirts/light jackets shall be sized, and free of inappropritae designs designs. Campus letter jackets or light jackets with an approved campus-specific logo are permissible. Coats Elementary Schools Grades PK-5 Coats worn by elementary students will be placed in an area designated by the teacher upon arrival. Backpacks must be clear, transparent or mesh.
Student dress and grooming: Elementary students may not use any type of cosmetics, including but not limited to, mascara, nail polish and artificial nails.
All other rules and regulations as defined in the Student Code of Conduct, regarding dress and grooming shall apply. *The principal and assistant principal(s) shall be authorized to appraise any fashion, fad, hair, jewelry or article of clothing deemed inappropriate for school wear or disruptive to the education process or safety of the campus. |
