4- In the fourth grade, Freeman students will start to develop a deeper understanding of computers in their classroom. With a deep foundation over the previous 5 years, students will feel very comfortable manipulating through and using the software available to them. Students will be encouraged to start expressing their interests in a personal page about themselves. With the encouragement of their classroom teachers and the staff, students will not be afraid when presented with a new computer program. Fourth grade, like 3rd and 2nd, will be encouraged to improve their typing skills. During this final year at Freeman, our students will be able to participate in regular typing competitions for speed and accuracy. Participating students will benefit tremendously from this challenge and will be better prepared for 21st century jobs in this technologically advanced world. All students will be provided with basic internet and computer safety skills, as well as technology safety. Our biggest goal for fourth grade is to have them leave here feeling comfortable in all aspects of the basics of computing and ready to take their fifth grade technology test and pass with little effort.
