Thompson Principal Toni Lopez served as the first guest reader for Campaign READ recently. She sat down with a group of eighth-grade girls and discussed the benefits of reading and college readiness. She shared an excerpt from her favorite novel, "Among the Hidden."

Emily R. Cruz, Thompson's peer facilitator, described her passion for reading and invited the students to read her favorite book, "House on Mango Street," by Sandra Cisneros.

Prudencio Reyna, Thompson counselor, finished the event with a motivational discussion about obtaining personal goals as young women.
