The fourth-grade girls break from the starting line at the Get Fit Jog.
Abby Balli, a sixth-grader at Lomax Middle School, recently set a Get Fit Jog record by becoming the first female to win four consecutive age-group race titles.
The 34th running of the Get Fit Jog was held April 21 at the Pasadena Rodeo Grounds. For the first time the event was moved from Veterans Memorial Stadium due to parking lot construction at the stadium.
A total of 1,222 students from Grades 3-6 completed the course along with many parents and family members who provided support.
Students qualify for the event by completing a minimum of 40 miles in their campus Get Fit Jog clubS. Campus clubs encourage students to develop lifelong healthy habits.
Balli became the first female participant to win all four grade levels. Last year she became the first female to win three straight races.
Corey Scott is the only male runner to win all four levels. He went unbeaten from 2005 to 2008.
Keller Middle school took home the trophy for best participation with 288 students running in the event.
Red Bluff took the elementary award with 105 student participants.

Pam Tevis, the district's director of physical education and health, hands out race ribbons to third-grade participants with assistance from Melillo Middle School P.E. instructor Joey Pena.
