North Shore right-hander Ricardo Salinas limited Dobie to one hit and helped his own cause with a key second-inning double as the District 21-5A champions used a 2-1 victory Friday night to even their playoff series with the Longhorns.

In softball action Friday night, Dobie was ousted by Brazoswood 2-1 in area-round play. The Lady Longhorns, the champions of 22-5A, finished the season with a 20-11 record after losing back-to-back games to the Lady Bucs.
North Shore greeted the Longhorns to single runs in the second and third innings. Salinas doubled in the second and scored on a single by Mike Gutierrez. Christian Montes made it 2-0 with an RBI single in the third.
Dobie got a run back in the sixth when Jesus Rendon reached on an infield error, Jose Sanchez singled and Zach Long delivered a fielder's choice grounder that brought in Rendon. The hit by Sanchez was the only one of the game off Salinas.
Longhorns pitchers Ryan McCormack and Michael Munoz held the Mustangs to just four hits.
