PASADENA ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION MINI-GRANTS
Applicants: Judy Stepan, Justine Henry
Mini-Grant Name: Blue Room Catering Project
Abstract: Our long-term goal is to develop a student-training restaurant for the district, similar to the automotive, air conditioning, cosmetology and welding classes. We have been serving an average of 200 people a week this past year and need to upgrade our old-fashioned homemaking lab into a commercial-quality restaurant kitchen. The 50-year-old wooden cabinets need to be replaced with wire shelves and tables. We also need to add some commercial-quality equipment for storage, transporting and serving.
Amount: $5,000

Mini-Grant Name: Sam Rayburn School Store Project
Abstract: The Sam Rayburn school store will be a school-based enterprise that offers effective educational tools to help prepare students for the transition from school to work or college. In this learning environment students will learn all the aspects of running a business including: advertising, promotion, customer service and accounting. Students will also have the opportunity to build management, supervision and leadership skills. The store will be a powerful teaching tool for students campus-wide. By partnering with Success students, we plan to educate them on the fundamental business skills needed to progress in a working environment.
