SHAW MS PRIZE PARADE: Readers Festival Draws Life from Grant

  PASADENA ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION MINI-GRANT 
  Applicants: Margaret A. Hale, Julie Mulkey
  Mini-Grant Name: Tweens Read Book Festival
  Abstract: The goal of the Tweens Read Book Festival is to celebrate and promote reading by connecting tweens (students in Grades 5-8) with authors.  The festival will begin with a keynote speaker to kick off the event followed by smaller panel sessions featuring authors and illustrators, all planned to allow participants to select different authors/ illustrators to meet and interact with in a smaller setting.  The event is a free and will be promoted throughout the Greater Houston area and across several counties.  By organizing this event, the committee hopes to enrich students' lives as readers and writers. 
 
Amount: $5,000
