The Houston Dynamo soccer team paid a visit to Gardens Elementary on Monday for the annual "Score at School" pep rally.
The event included members from the Dynamo Street Team, Dynamo Girls and Dynamo players.
"We are proud to have the Houston Dynamo come and speak to our kids," said Gardens Principal Celia Fleischman. "Our kids were so excited to learn new things and meet the players."
The Dynamo and Statoil premiered their Sports and Science Mobile, a traveling exhibit that demonstrates how science plays a role in soccer. Students had the opportunity to go inside the trailer, view video clips of the physics behind soccer and then play interactive video games outside the trailer.
Gardens has participated in the "Score at School" program for several years. "Score at School" is a free program that schools and teachers use as an incentive to help motivate students to succeed.
"We are incorporating sports and science together to teach kids about health, science, mathematics and to keep kids interested in school," said Tyler Moyer, marketing coordinator for the Houston Dynamo.
Students received complimentary Houston Dynamo items to motivate them to achieve school goals. Once students have achieved their goals, they are eligible to receive a complimentary Houston Dynamo ticket and a discounted rate on other tickets to Dynamo games at Robertson Stadium.
Gardens will be offering bus service to the game.
Houston Dynamo Mascot Diesel is welcomed with open arms by Gardens students.

Students eagerly await their turn on the Sports and Science Mobile.
