  Mini-Grant Name: Back to Basics Literacy Lab
  Abstract: The Literacy Lab will sprout forth a resource area where teachers will have access to a wide spectrum of leveled readers to support our district comprehensive literacy initiative.  Teachers will strategically select the right book at the right level for each student during small-group reading instruction.  The Literacy Lab empowers teachers to competently differentiate reading instruction, since no two students have exactly the same academic needs. The highly visual fiction and nonfiction leveled readers provide children the support and challenges needed to read successfully. The Literacy Lab is the seed that will grow a tree of knowledge.
