The Dobie High School Academic Decathlon team finished third in the state at the Texas Academic Decathlon competition at San Jacinto College's North Campus on Feb. 27.

The team earned a spot at state by finishing first at the regional event. Dobie's team has advanced to the state competition 11 times since 1991. Dobie also claimed national titles in 1992 and 1996, along with finishing third in the nation in 2003.

Members of the team include Jeremy Morris, Jessica Huynh, Hung Vu, Eddie Nunez, Tuyen Nguyen, Kristin Gaston, Tyler Schott, Carnell Emanuel and Tad Walters. The team is coached by Steven Higginbotham and Brad Rampp.
