Memorial High senior Stephen Alcala and Dobie sophomore Dona Nguyen were recently named Gold Seal Award winners at the State Visual Art and Scholastic Event in Bryan.
  Gold Seal Awards are presented to work judged to be in the top 10 percent in the state.
  Both advanced on the basis of earning superior ratings in earlier judging. Dobie sophomore Tram Lee also earned a superior rating.
  Three other Pasadena ISD students -- South Houston senior Aceneth Diaz, Dobie senior Reach Sao and Memorial sophomore Aide Moreno -- earned excellent ratings with their entries.
  All six pieces of art were exhibited during the state event. The pieces were exhibited with the other 1,481 state qualifying entries.
