Students and staff at De Zavala held a "Beat the TAKS" pep rally last week to motivate students for testing later this month. Students and staff at De Zavala helped promote literacy with "Character Day" recently. Characters from popular books were depicted by students and staff members in costumes.

Fifth- and sixth-graders who made the Honor Roll for the entire fall semester were treated to a "free dress" say recently -- meaning, they could leave the uniform code at home. Some of it, anyway.
