ATKINSON ES PHOTOS: Students Hope to Egg-cel on TAKS

To prepare for the TAKS test, students at Atkinson were treated to an egg hunt of reading and math review material in different areas of the school. After the review, students participated in a confetti egg free-for-all. Over 150 dozen eggs were smashed. Event photos follow.

Thirty-two Atkinson students and 16 of their parents participated in the 14th annual Texas Children's Hospital Kids' Fun Run, a prelude to the 2011 Chevron Houston Marathon. The non-competitive 3K and 1K event kick gave participants the opportunity to cross the official Marathon finish line. Event photos follow.

ATKINSON ES: Jump Rope For Heart Raises Over $2,500

Atkinson students jumped all over heart disease and stroke last month during Jump Rope for Heart with 89 students participating.
The school raised $2,500.53 for the American Heart Association. Donations help fund research to fight heart disease and stroke, and also support the American Heart Association's public and professional education programs.
"This year's event was a success," said Katy Glass, Atkinson's Jump Rope for Heart coordinator. "We are very proud of all our students who participated. They worked hard to raise donations and were rewarded with a celebration event."
