 Coach Chris Ferguson and Ben Arnett at State 2013 Ben Arnett, a junior, competed in the 5A State Golf Tournament in Austin the past two days. Ben shot a 72 & 70 for a score of 142 and tied for 8th in the state out of 73 players !!! Ben is the first Dobie student to ever qualify for the state golf tournament. Remember that name, Ben Arnett; he'll be a pro one day! Ben Arnett named Houston Chronicle's Athlete of the Week! Ben Arnett, junior golfer here at Dobie, placed first in regional competition today. Ben will be advancing to the state golf tournament in Austin representing Dobie High School. Read the story HERE. Jackie Vasquez qualified for regionals for her third time in three years (she’s a Junior) She did not qualify for state, but did shoot the second best score of our district representatives. TYLER WOLFE WINS ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME SCHOLARSHIP

GIRLS' TRACK Freshman Justice Henderson qualified for Area in 4 events. She won the long jump, was 3rd in the 100 and she is a member of the qualifying 4x100 and 4x200 relay. Also joining her on the relays are Sr. Essence Gilbert, Junior-Jayla Joulevette and Sophomore Makaila Singleton. Also qualifying for Area is Sophomore Stella Somdah in the shot put and Jr. Brianna Guevara in the 1600 and 3200. Area will be held on Friday, April 19 at North Shore, the top 4 qualifiers from each event will head to Regionals in Humble the following weekend.
LATIN CLUB WINS! The Dobie Latin Club placed 4th overall at our state TSJCL contest this week against 60 other schools. Dobie’s overall score was 735, which was only 31 points away from 3rd place and only 104 points away from the 1st place team. IT'S A WIN NGUYEN AGAIN! 
Dona Nguyen, center, was announced as one of the top ten finalist in the 2013 Culture Shapers Visual Art Contest. Dona won first place in the mixed media category and received a $5,000 cash prize. Her work was selected among 192 entries for mixed media from 30 different districts. Here's the link to the article with the 1st place winners. Extra info: The name of her piece is "Masquerade Ball."
