Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE)

The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) has sponsored the Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) since 1994. VASE is the only art event of its kind in the nation. Students are provided the opportunity to bring artworks created in their art classes to their regional event where they are interviewed by a certified juror who evaluates their work based on a standard based rubric and their understanding of the art processes involved in the development of their artwork. Only academically eligible high school students in grades 9-12 from throughout Texas can participate in VASE.
The competition is designed to encourage the artistic talent of high school students by giving them recognition in their local communities.
In an effort to raise campus awareness about the importance of recycling, and to have a little fun, Coca-Cola and the University of Texas at Austin Division of Housing and Food Service are teaming up for “The Art of Recycling Program.” Students are invited to create works of art using empty bottles and cans of Coca-Cola products as inspiration for design.
The 4 categories are: 2D design (wall hanging), 3D Design (free standing), Wearable Art, and Most Variety of Coca-Cola Products used. These four categories offer students of all artistic abilities an opportunity to participate and compete for a chance to win. Each category will have 1 winner that will receive a $250 American Express gift card.
