Student Assessment

The Student Assessment Department is responsible for coordinating the administration of all state-mandated assessment programs for Pasadena Independent School District including the new STAAR and STAAR/End-of-Course (EOC) tests, TAKS Exit Level tests, and TELPAS tests for our Limited English Proficient (LEP) students.  The department also purchases and distributes the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) and Logramos achievement testing programs administered to all first and second grade students each spring.

Included in the coordination of test administration is the shipping and receiving of all of the testing materials to the district, training campus staff members to accurately administer the tests to each student, returning completed test documents to the appropriate companies for scoring purposes, and distribution of the final results to Central Administration and Campus Administration staff members.  The campuses then make certain results are sent to each examinees' parents or guardians in a timely manner.

The department is supervised by Rosie Prusz, Associate Superintendent for Leadership and Instructional Support.  Patricia Sermas serves as Director of Advanced Academics, AVID, and Assessment.  Acting as the District Testing Coordinators are Susan Levonius and Karen White.  Our District Testing Facilitator is Rachel McAdam.  Departmental support staff is composed of Norma Razo and Veronica Gonzalez as the department's Testing Assistants.
