Marshall Kendrick, President

Marshall Kendrick is the retired director and general manager of Maleic Anhydride Business for Bayer Corporation. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. He and wife Denie have two children, both graduates of Sam Rayburn High School. Kendrick is a deacon, Sunday School teacher and member of the finance committee of South Main Baptist Church.

Jack Bailey, Vice President
3 years in office 

Jack Bailey retired after a 33 year career in the construction equipment business, 28 of which were with the Case Construction equipment dealership here in South East Texas.  A 1967 graduate of Sam Rayburn High School, he went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a BBA (Management).  He and his wife, Kathy, have two sons, both products of the Pasadena ISD and graduates of Sam Rayburn.  Their wives are also products of Pasadena ISD and currently employed in the field of education.  The Baileys are active members of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena where he serves with the deacon body, teaches an adult Sunday School class and serves as a member of the Finance Team.

Fred Roberts, Secretary

18 years in office
 


Fred Roberts, a lifelong resident of Pasadena, is a self-employed insurance consultant with clients across the state of Texas. He attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and is a member of NACE No. 114. Roberts is married to wife Vicki, a 1978 graduate of Dobie High School. They have four children, Zachary, Sara, Jacob and Jordan, who have all attended Pasadena schools, with three graduating from Pasadena ISD.

Mariselle Quijano-Lerma, Asst. Secretary

4 years in office

Mariselle Quijano-Lerma was elected to the Position 2 spot, formally held by longtime board member Carmen Orozco in 2009.  Quijano-Lerma is a Franchise Owner of several McDonald's restaurants in the Pasadena and Greater Houston area and is active in many community organizations and the McDonald's Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament.  She is a graduate of Sam Rayburn High School.  She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business (Accounting) from the University of Houston.  She and her husband Horacio have two children.  She is also a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.

Vickie Morgan, Member

26 years in office

Vickie Morgan is a homemaker and the mother of three children, who graduated from Pasadena schools. She has been honored with two Texas Life Memberships (1982, 1988), a National Life Membership (1989), and an Extended Life Membership (1991) from the PTA, was named Leader of the Year by the Girl Scouts of America (1984) and Outstanding Young Woman of America (1983). She currently serves as secretary to a city-appointed Board of Directors for the Pasadena Second Century Corporation, which is a non-profit industrial development corporation. Morgan is actively involved in the Girl Scouts of America, the Parent Teacher Association, and is an active member of South Main Baptist Church, where she serves as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School director and greeter.

Nelda Sullivan, Member

18 years in office

Nelda Sullivan is assistant vice president and branch manager of Southwest Bank of Texas-Shaver branch. She has 36 years of banking experience, 29 years in management. Her involvement in civic activities includes leadership roles in the Pasadena South Rotary Club, Soroptimist Club International of Pasadena , the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Houston Professional Women and the American Heart Association. In addition, she serves as chairwoman on the Board of Trustees of the Bayshore Medical Center, the Pasadena Police Academy Advisory Board and the Boy Scouts of America. Sullivan was honored as the Citizen of the Year by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce in 1993 and as the 1993 Woman of Excellence by the Houston Federation of Women. She also was awarded a congressional certificate by the 29th Congressional District of the State of Texas for outstanding service to the cities of Houston and Pasadena in 1995. In 1990, she was named Volunteer of the Year by the American Heart Association. She is a mother of three, a grandmother of seven and the great-grandmother of one.

Jerry Ross Speer, Member

12 years in office

Jerry Speer retired in July 2000 after 39 years in education. He was principal of J. Frank Dobie High School from 1986-2000. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and coached football at Pasadena High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Central University in Edmond, Okla. and a Master's Degree in Administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He was a math and science teacher for 20 years before entering administration. He has been married for 50 years to his wife, Mary, a retired Pasadena ISD school nurse. They have four daughters, all of whom graduated from Sam Rayburn High School. Speer is a lecturer at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.

Dr. Kirk Lewis, Superintendent
 Superintendent's Blog

  
Kirk Lewis was named by the Board of Trustees as Superintendent of the Pasadena Independent School District on April 25, 2006. As a 30-year resident of Pasadena, Lewis graduated in 1972 from Ropes High School, a small farming community near Lubbock. He attended Texas Tech University, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising/Public Relations. He received his Master of Science degree in Education Futures from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 1983. He recently received his doctorate in educational leadership from Lamar University in Beaumont.

Lewis came to Pasadena ISD in 1986 as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent responsible for communications and policy development and has since worked closely with three different superintendents. He was promoted to Executive Director for Communications and Community Relations in 1995 and then as Deputy Superintendent for Administration, Public Relations and Governmental Affairs in 2001.  He is a deacon at South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena. He and his wife, Robin, have two sons, Adam, a teacher at Sam Rayburn High School, and Andrew, an electrical engineer for Dashiell Corporation in Houston.
