The 2011-12 school year is Mr. Sanders' fifrth year at Dobie and his third year as one of the APUSH teachers on our campus (joining Mr. Daugherty as APUSH teachers at Dobie). Before joining the Dobie faculty, Mr. Sanders was a long-term substitute in the Fort Bend ISD between 2004-07. He also has worked in professional sports and cable television as a PR director and owned a company which built web sites for Houston-area businesses. Mr. Sanders is also the UIL Social Studies Coach at Dobie and has helped lead that team to back-to-back district championship title and regional competition finishes. He teaches both regular US History (Civil War/Reconstruction to Present Day) and AP US History.


Mr. Sanders is the Dobie advisor for the National Honor Society (NHS) Club and also the co-spnosor and coach of the UIL Social Studies Club.  UIL Club Meetings are held on Thursday afternoons at 2:35 p.m in Room 208. NHS meetings are the first and third Wednesday of each month  at 2:40 pm in Room 208 and make-up meeting are held the first and third Thursday of each month, also in Room 208. 

Congratulations to Dobie's UIL Social Studies Club on winning its second consecutive District 22-5A title on Saturday, March 26, 2011.  Allison Hall was the individual winner in the Social Studies competition with teammate Malaz Mohamad finishing second in the district.  Robert Luna tied for third in the individual competition and Kim Gonzales was fifth as the Dobie team easily won the team title to advance to the Regional meet that was held in Katy on April 16.  Dobie finished 4th at the Regionals and 11th in the state with the top individual finish of 15th by Robert Luna.
