PHS Freshman wins Gold in Israel

Maria Prado is not your average 15-year-old. Not only is she a freshman at Pasadena High School, Maria is an accomplished martial artist and a member of the USA Jr. National Team. For families who have experienced more than their fair share of rain due to Hurricane Harvey – 80-degree weather and a little snow at Burnett Elementary’s annual Winterfest this past weekend was a welcome sight. Dobie High was recently named a first team recipient of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Safe Sports School award for their sports medicine program. The Safe Sports School program champions safety and recognizes secondary schools that create a safe environment for student athletes. Stuchbery Elementary celebrates 50-year anniversary

Stuchbery Elementary honored half a century of excellence, history and stallion pride last night at their 50-year anniversary celebration. Hundreds of current and former students, administrators and alumni gathered at the campus to reflect on the storied past of the school and to look forward to the future. The celebration included a brief oral history about the school’s namesake, James E. Stuchbery. The school also debuted a new song entitled, “A Stallion’s Pride” performed by the third grade choir. Founding CEO of the Pasadena Health Center and longtime supporter of Pasadena ISD, John Sweitzer has been named PISD’s 2017 Distinguished Citizen of the Year.
