For the first time in the school’s history, the Beverly Hills Intermediate seventh grade pentathlon team has been named champion of the National Online Pentathlon competition. The eighth grade team captured second place.

Both groups will be recognized during the Pasadena ISD board meeting at the Administration Building, May 30.

“This is absolutely amazing,” Grant Pector, a BHI pentathlon coach said. “With their hard work and determination, they are the ones who have made this dream come true.”

The seventh grade team won first place at the district and regional levels before competing at nationals. Out of the schools that competed across the state, the seventh grade team has been ranked third, while the eighth grade team ranked in the top 10.

The annual competition tests students in five core subjects areas including math, science, social studies, reading and fine arts, while teaching critical thinking skills.

The team was led by Grant Pector, William Anders and Matrice Henry.
