Pasadena ISD Director of Athletics Rodney Chant speaks at the Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony.
Rodney Chant, the Pasadena ISD director of athletics, was named Region 5 Athletic Administrator of the Year by the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association (THSADA).
Chant was nominated, from a pool of approximately 176 Region 5 members which encompasses approximately 50 districts, by his peers for “demonstrating contributions to local, conference and regional interscholastic athletics.”
“I am both humbled and honored to have been nominated and named as the Region 5 Athletic Administrator of the Year,” Chant said.
Chant joined Pasadena ISD in 2003, first as a coach at Pasadena Memorial, then as assistant director of athletics.
Throughout his career, Chant has coached a little of everything from the intermediate to high school level including football, basketball, track, tennis, baseball and powerlifting.
“My proudest moments are watching our athletes and coaches and the successes that they obtain on the field and in life through their hard work and dedication,” said Chant.
He was appointed the Region 5 director for THSADA in 2015, a position that he will hold for two years and is also a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association, American Football Coaches Association and Texas Girls Coaches Association.
Chant will be honored along with the other award recipients at the PBK Sports-THSADA Hall of Honor Banquet in July.
