Frazier and Teague elementary schools are both recipients of $30,000 grants from the Center for Afterschool, Summer and Enrichment for Kids (CASE) Partnership Project which will provide academic enrichment through after-school programs for at least 55 Frazier students and 30 Special Education students at Teague.

The goal of the Partnership Project is to provide supplemental funding for comprehensive afterschool programs to promote social and emotional learning skills, increase support of numeracy and literacy development for economically disadvantaged students between the ages of 4 and 12 or up to the age of 19 with a documented disability.

Susan Blue, Frazier counselor and CASE coordinator, said the grant will help families impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

“Afterschool students have the opportunity to stay in a safe and loving environment while participating in academic and enrichment activities, such as robotics, percussion, choir, engineering, homework club, reading club and more,” said Blue.

CASE is a division of the Harris County Department of Education and the result of collaboration between HCDE, the Houston-Galveston Area Council, the Texas Workforce Commission and other awarded sites.
