Bondy seventh grader Roy Galang and Morris sixth grader Maya Scott will compete live in the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee, Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. on PBS channel 8.
Considered the nation’s third largest spelling bee, more than 100,000 students from 42 counties and 1,000 schools, will participate in the contest. Galang and Scott qualified for the Houston Spelling Bee after placing first and second in the district spelling bee.
The contest can also be streamed online at https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/education/spelling-bee/. The winners of Saturday’s contest will compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May in National Harbor, Md.
