Former Houston Texans players J.J. Moses and Eric Brown teamed up to host a football camp at Stuchbery Elementary last week. Moses and Brown spoke to students about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the fundamentals of football.

“We really enjoy reaching out to kids in the community and getting them excited about making healthy decisions,” Brown said. “Stuchbery is a great school. We were happy to play 60 minutes with the students.”

“We hope this experience will empower students to take control of their health and have fun in the process,” Moses said.

The camp was part of the National Dairy Council’s “Fuel Up to Play 60” initiative, which encourages students to participate in at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily. The ultimate goal of the program is to increase engagement in physical activity among students and help them develop skills they can use on and off the field.

Jennifer Dowell, a fourth-grade language arts teacher at Stuchbery and an avid Texans fan, said she decided to incorporate her love of football into the classroom -- and the Texans organization took notice.

“My classroom is decorated with my collection of Houston Texans memorabilia and I watch every game,” Dowell said. “I submitted an application to the Texans inviting them to play football with the students. For the players to visit our kids was truly special. They were still talking about it days later.”
