Jessup Awarded $15,390 Target, KaBOOM! Grant for Playground
Jessup Elementary has been chosen to receive a $15,930 grant from Target and KaBOOM! to purchase an Imagination Playground.

Imagination Playground in a Cart™ is an innovative playground equipment system designed to encourage creativity, communication and collaboration during play time. Through a collection of custom-designed, oversized blue foam parts, students have the opportunity to transform any space into an imaginary world – creating anything from animals, houses, castles to robots and rocket ships.

The goal of the playground, which will be delivered by mid-November, is to encourage students to use self-expression through thoughtful play.

“Our vision for students at Jessup Elementary is to increase their ability to cooperate, communicate and collaborate,” said Ryan Pavone, Jessup principal. “We will use this innovative playground as a forum where students can practice these skills, learning in a fun and playful setting. This will set the foundation for future formal and academic settings.”

KaBOOM! is dedicated to giving students the childhood they deserve through play, and is working with Target to increase access to play across the country. Grants for Imagination Playgrounds are helping to achieve that goal by bringing active play to more than 430,000 kids across the country.

According to the organization, child-directed play has proven to help children develop physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually, and yet children have less time and fewer opportunities to play than any previous generation.

The grant is part of Target’s ongoing efforts to help make wellness more affordable, accessible and inspirational for its team members, guests and communities.
