Adriana Garza, a fifth grade teacher at Keller Middle School was surprised by Sarah Pepper from HOT 95.7 FM Thursday, October 27 as she was named the Pepper Pays It Forward Teacher of the Month.

“This is such a surprise and an honor,” Garza said. “My job is rewarding every day, but this makes it extra special.”

Garza was invited along with other instructors and Keller students by the radio station under the guise of a student pep rally. After a motivational speech from Pepper and a student and teacher dance competition, the morning radio host read one of the fifteen nominations the station received on Garza’s behalf.

“She is a special teacher who helps autistic children to become independent and amazing adults,” Pepper said. “Even though she feels overwhelmed at times, you would never know it because she always has an upbeat attitude. She not only inspires her students but her fellow teachers and staff on a daily, hourly and minute basis.”

As the Pepper Pays It Forward Teacher of the Month, Garza received a $500 check from Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union and recognition from HOT 95.7.
