Park View principal Dr. Robert Hasson, Jr. will be recognized as the University of Houston-Clear Lake’s 2016 Marilyn S. Sims Leadership Service Award recipient. He was chosen for this award for his dedicated support of the education of both his hometown and his alma mater.

“I feel very privileged and honored to receive this award,” Dr. Hasson said. “It represents the efforts being made to develop the best teacher candidates for my students, school and Pasadena ISD.”

Serving the entirety of his 23-year career at Pasadena ISD, Dr. Hasson has been at Park View for 20 years. He served three years as assistant principal and the last 17 years as principal. He also taught ESL at Jackson for three years.

As a principal, he has facilitated real-world experiences for students in UHCL’s College of Education. Dr. Hasson was one of the original 19 candidates of UHCL’s doctoral educational leadership program, graduating in 2011.

He also earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from UHCL in 1996. Numerous organizations have benefited from his energy and leadership, including the Tejano Center for Community Concerns and the Raul Yzaguirre School for Success in Houston and Brownsville.

Dr. Hasson, along with other award recipients will be honored at the UH-Clear Lake 2016 Alumni Celebration at 6:30 p.m. on October 15, at Space Center Houston.

“The Alumni Celebration is a time for UHCL alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university to come together to showcase the best of UHCL,” said Kris Thompson, UHCL senior coordinator of alumni relations. “Not only do we recognize the honorees for their achievements, but we also celebrate those who have made UHCL a part of their own success story.”

Tickets for the celebration are available for $85 or $50 for current UHCL students, and can be purchased by mail, phone, online or at the door. To learn more, visit
