The Pasadena ISD business office has earned five prestigious awards for their excellence and commitment to fiscal integrity and high-quality financial reporting.
The Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle program was created in December 2009 to recognize local cities, counties and school districts across Texas that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency online.
Pasadena ISD has been recognized every year since that time with the highest level of transparency. From 2010-2013 the district earned four gold level awards, the top level at that time. In 2014 and 2015, consecutive platinum level awards were earned, the state’s highest honor.
The business office earned two awards through the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). For the thirteenth consecutive year, Pasadena ISD earned the Meritorious Budget Award for excellence in the preparation and issuance of a system annual budget.
Pasadena ISD is one of only 129 school systems internationally to receive this award and one of 21 in the state of Texas.
The district also earned the ASBO Certificate of Excellence Award for the comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending Aug. 31, 2014. This is the second year Pasadena ISD has been presented with this achievement.
The business office also became one of only 18 school districts in Texas to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada in their first year of submission. The organization also recognized the district’s financial report ending Aug. 31, 2014, with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
“It is an honor to accept these awards and be recognized for the work we did as a team, however we are most proud of the two documents we produced,” Nina Conway, Executive Director of Business Services said. “They are excellent resources for all staff, board members and the community that contain valuable information about funding, enrollment growth and staff increases as well as other general information about the district as a whole.”
