The sound of music filled Veterans Memorial Stadium, Tuesday evening, as students from each of the district’s marching bands gathered for Pasadena ISD’s Pre-UIL Marching Band Festival.
The event gives students and band directors an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming UIL competition, which will take place this year at Channelview Stadium, Oct. 22
Instead of earning ratings, during the pre-UIL festival, the marching bands receive comments from judges to help prepare for the regular UIL competition.
“We want to provide our students, teachers and the marching band programs with ongoing learning opportunities,” said Nicholas Luggerio, assistant dir. of fine arts. “By having three highly qualified and experienced adjudicators give their critical analysis of our students' performances on the marching field, it helps to focus each group’s efforts for their upcoming UIL competitions. It is the equivalent of a benchmark for our marching bands.”
