Perla Tovar-Sandoval, Dyslexia intervention teacher; Heidi Erber, reading intervention teacher and Mary Majumdar, librarian at Richey Elementary are awarded a mini-grant for $4,998 from the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation for their literacy project.
Dozens of Pasadena ISD educators were greeted with bells, whistles and shouts as they were surprised by the Education Foundation Prize Parade on Tuesday. The Prize Parade, occurring once in the fall and once in the spring, awards mini-grants to teachers for funding of specified projects and initiatives.
Four Education Foundation teams tackled the entire district and handed out over $101,000 in mini-grants to 17 different campuses and special programs.
These grants will be used for various classroom enhancements like iPads for education, providing language software, robotics programs and more.
“The Pasadena ISD Education Foundation has provided over $1.8 million in mini-grants to educators in the district over the last 12 years,” said Cindy Parmer, the district's Director of Community Relations. “The foundation board, made up of 35 committed members from business, industry and the community, combine efforts with the support of hundreds of generous donors to make dreams come true for our teachers and students. Seeing the teachers’ faces light up as a result of Prize Parade puts the fun in fundraising.”
Thanks to all of the generous sponsors and the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation for making this possible.
