Eight graduates and one former faculty member from Sam Rayburn High School returned to their alma mater recently for the school’s Class of 2018 Hall of Honor Induction ceremony.

The annual event celebrates distinguished Rayburn alumni and faculty members for their lifelong achievements and for bringing honor and pride to the school and the Texans community.

The 2018 inductees are: Chris Bezdek, Class of 1998; Arlin Paul Kethley, Class of 1999; Ann McKitrick, Class of 1977; Dr. Jorge Rodriguez, Class of 1972; Jerome Shick, Class of 1992; Dr. Pamela Wells, Class of 1971; Cristina Womack, Class of 2002; Sandra Womack, Class of 1974; and Elaine Sparks, former faculty member, who served from 1976 to 2002.

The event kicked off in front of the Hall of Honor where their plaques were revealed by Rayburn JROTC students.

Attendees gathered in the school’s auditorium where the honorees and guests were treated to performances by the Rayburn orchestra, cheerleaders and dance team.

Rayburn Principal Vanessa Reyes thanked this year’s inductees for inspiring the next generation of Rayburn Texans.

“We take the time to recognize the accomplishments of our alumni who serve as an inspiration to today’s students by showing us the sky’s the limit when we take the lessons learned here and make a positive difference in the world,” said Reyes.
