In the spirit of Thanksgiving, students and staff at the Summit united with various local community organizations, Friday, Nov. 20, for a holiday feast and informational vendor fair.
Attendees were invited to spend lunchtime with students and talk with representatives from various organizations to learn about the services available to families in the area. These organizations include Molina Healthcare, Amerigroup, Summit Dental Center, ABC Dental, Bacoda, Medco Medical Supply and more.
In the cafeteria, students, district staff and University of Houston volunteers served food while a couple of students provided entertainment including an accordion performance and rap jingle.
The event was part of the Summit’s ongoing effort to meet the academic, emotional and social needs of students and their families. The school has established strong partnerships with local businesses and organizations to provide complimentary services and opportunities for Summit families so they can focus on achieving their educational goals.
“Our school looks forward to this every year,” Robert De Wolfe, Summit principal said. “The Thanksgiving celebration gives us a chance to show Summit families that there are individuals, organizations and businesses out there that truly care and are willing to provide the tools and resources to help them succeed. This is our way of expressing our gratitude.”
