Four Pasadena ISD high schools were represented at the Austin Rodeo Art Competition on February 8, with 10 students from Sam Rayburn High School placing in the top 20.

Out of 366 total entries, the top 20 students went on to participate in the third annual Austin Rodeo Gala and Youth Art Auction. The funds earned at the auction, a combined total of $10,250, will provide students with scholarships to attend college or other post-secondary training.

This year marks the fourth consecutive year a Pasadena ISD student has won the Overall Reserve-Grand Champion in the Austin Rodeo Art Competition. The honor, along with the title of Class Champion in the Traditional Division, went to Rayburn junior Esteban Zavaleta. The Austin Rodeo was Zavaleta’s first time participating in an art competition.

Pasadena ISD is proud of each student who participated in the competition and thankful for the hard work and dedication of the art teachers who aided their students through this process.
