Former South Houston Intermediate Principal Laura Gomez turned over the keys to the campus as Jessica Swenson was named SHI’s new principal by the Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees.
Swenson is replacing Gomez, who was recently promoted to principal at Pasadena High School.
“I feel blessed to be a part of the South Houston Intermediate family,” Swenson said. “SHI is a school with deep roots, fun traditions and a focus on student safety and learning. I’m excited about working with the teachers, students and parents to continue the momentum of success at SHI.”
Having served in education for nearly 20 years and as Pasadena Memorial High School’s assistant principal since 2013, Swenson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role.
Swenson started her educational career in 2001 as a teacher at Pearland ISD. In 2003, she joined the Pasadena ISD family as a journalism teacher at Dobie High School. In 2010, she was promoted to assistant principal at Miller Intermediate before being named assistant principal at Memorial High School.
Swenson holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Management from the University of Houston Clear Lake and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University.
