With a search state-wide, Pasadena ISD is proud to announce the selection of three teachers being honored at this year's Teacher of the Year ceremony in hopes of becoming winners for the district.

Pasadena Independent School District has been given the opportunity to participate in a program that helps us test for lead in the drinking water at all our facilities. This program is a voluntary statewide program that offers free testing and remediation of lead in drinking water where children are cared for.

Eight Pasadena ISD students have been selected to become part of the newest cohort of Dell Scholars, an initiative of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. The Dell Foundation exemplifies the persona of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), providing students with the experience of individualized, comprehensive, and academic avenues, bridging the gap between financial assistance and college readiness curriculums. This scholarship permits students to participate in a curriculum designed to allow them to exceed their average creative ability and forge their path to success.

The Dr. Kirk Lewis Career and Technical High School continues to be a revolutionary force in the Pasadena Independent School District, creating individual leaders who have different dreams and follow different paths but collectively have something in common. For four consecutive years, CTHS students have not only balanced the rigorous requirements of a Career and Technical Education pathway alongside their core course load, but some have also excelled in AVID.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The eclipse begins in Houston at 12:20 p.m., with maximum coverage of the sun happening around 1:40 p.m. At that time, approximately 94% of the sun will be covered by the moon passing directly between the Sun and the Earth!

Nine Pasadena ISD Fine Arts Students were featured in the 2024 Houston Rodeo and Livestock Art Auction, where they all combined for a total of $251,000 in auction sells. This year proved the most promising yet as students used various mixed mediums, monochromatic drawings, colored drawings, and painting pieces in the auction, bringing a combined total of $251,000 in profits.

On February 19th, The Pasadena ISD Police Department recognized Hanna Avalos-Arrue with the first-ever Student Heroes Award during a private ceremony at her school Fred Roberts Middle School.

PISD held it's annual Winter Chess Tournament last Saturday at the Beverly Hills Intermediate School. Students from grades 3-12 competed head-to-head to claim the championship medal for their district.
