TELPAS Tutorial

The TELPAS tutorial was created to help students become familiar with online testing. The tutorial will show students how to move through a test, use tools in the test, and work with reading, listening, and speaking questions. It is recommended that you perform the Headset Test prior to starting the TELPAS Tutorial to ensure the headset is setup correctly. The Headset Test is located in the TestNav app under the "Practice Tests" link.

TELPAS Listening & Speaking Practice Sets

The TELPAS Listening & Speaking Practice Sets were created to help students become familiar with online listening and speaking test items. The practice sets will allow students to practice listening to test items and recording speaking responses. It is recommended that you perform the Headset Test prior to starting the TELPAS Listening and Speaking Practice Sets to ensure the headset is setup correctly. The Headset Test is located in the TestNav app under the "Practice Tests" link.

TELPAS Reading Practice Tests

The TELPAS Reading Practice Tests contain a sampling of reading passages and test questions. The purpose of the practice tests is to familiarize students with the online interface, the available tools, and the types of test items. The practice tests should not be used to evaluate students’ level of language proficiency.  To generate a score report, the student must submit their final answers.

TELPAS Reading Released Tests

The TEA provides TELPAS reading released tests in the online interface used for the spring administration. Districts can administer these released tests to students for diagnostic purposes. TestNav 8 does not generate a test summary. If you would like to score your student's practice test, you should direct your student to record his or her answers on a separate sheet of paper. Then you can use the answer key below to score the practice test. To determine a student's proficiency level rating, use the appropriate TELPAS reading raw score conversion table located on TEA’s website at http://tea.texas.gov/student.assessment/ell/telpas/released-tests

NOTE: Students must complete tests in one sitting. Student’s answers cannot be saved to resume later.
