Pasadena ISD’s secondary and elementary principals of the year Lindsey Lesniewski, Gardens Elementary, and Jeremy Richardson, Pasadena Memorial High, were recently gifted a car for the summer by Bayway Auto Group.

Bayway Auto Group owners Darryl and Linda Wischnewsky, along with General Manger Lance Willis and Corporate VP Fred Hoyer surprised the two principals at the district’s monthly administrative council meeting.

“We’ve always considered Pasadena to be our hometown,” said Willis. “Darryl, Linda and I all have a very strong affiliation to the teaching profession and we wanted to do something just to say thank you to Pasadena’s principals of the year.”

Originally, the company had planned to award one car for the summer to the winner of a random drawing between the two principals. However, after Lesniewski selected the winning toy car, Wischnewsky asked for a moment to confer with his team. After a brief huddle, he turned and announced an unexpected twist.

“We appreciate everything that everybody in this room does for students,” said Wischnewsky. “These two principals have stepped out a little bit extra and I think what we are going to do is just go ahead and give a car to both.”

As the room erupted in applause, Richardson and Lesniewski thanked the Bayway team for their generosity with hugs and handshakes.

“They will probably have a choice of two vehicles. We will probably give the winner (Lesniewski) a Lincoln MKC and the other (Richardson) a Lincoln MKZ,” said Willis. “They will get to drive these brand new vehicles all summer and I think they will really enjoy that.”

Richardson said, “I don’t think I’ve ever had a new car to drive around before, so this is a very special opportunity for me and my family.”

Lesniewski added, “Thank you so much Bayway, this is going to be a fun summer and I’m excited to be able to drive a new car.”

Richardson and Lesniewski said that they were appreciative of the support that community partners, like Bayway Auto Group, provides to the district.

“It just goes to show that what we are doing in public education isn’t going unnoticed but people do appreciate the hard work and what we are doing to raise up the next generation of leaders in this country,” said Richardson. “It just adds another level of appreciation to it all.”

Lesniewski echoed Richardson’s appreciation and said, “It means a lot to us for community partners like Bayway to take notice the district’s staff, teachers and administrators hard work.”

In addition to providing a new summer ride for the two principals, Willis announced that Bayway Auto is rolling out a special pricing incentive for Pasadena ISD employees.

“We’re calling our new incentive, E-pricing and it is going to be just over invoice on most of our models. We’re trying to make it easy and transparent for Pasadena ISD employees where they know they are getting a good deal and don’t have to go through that negotiation process,” said Willis.
