Dyslexia, a common learning disorder that causes reading difficulties, is estimated to effect 20 percent of the population.

In observance of National Dyslexia Awareness Month, Pasadena ISD is hosting a parent conference to inform families about strategies on how to help children experiencing challenges with dyslexia.

During the conference, parents and students will have the opportunity to participate in games and hands-on activities they can recreate at home. Experts in the field will provide information on how to help students with the following: homework, creating good study habits, alphabetic knowledge, financial aid, college readiness, advocating for accommodations and much more. Parents can also choose to participate in raffles for educational games, activities and gift cards.

The conference will be held on Saturday, October 12th from 9-11 a.m. in the Carmen Orozco Professional Development Complex at 1832 East Same Houston Pkwy S, Pasadena, TX.
