Rayburn High School held its first annual homecoming reunion on Thursday, Oct. 17, welcoming alumni from the first graduating class to the most recent, as part of the pre-football game festivities.

The celebration kicked off with lunch at the newest addition to Rayburn, the Early College High School. Then, it was off to the main campus -- where droves of students and staff poured into the hallways to cheer on alumni as they paraded through their old stomping grounds.

As alumni took a stroll down memory lane, it was almost as if nothing had changed as each hallway was decorated by decade, starting with the 1960s, when the school was established.

The final campus event included a pep rally. Alumni reconvened at the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame Museum, where they had the opportunity to enjoy some light refreshments and browse sports memorabilia.

Dr. Troy McCarley, a 1987 Rayburn Texan graduate and the school’s former principal, said the homecoming celebration was a true representation of what it means to have Texans pride.

“It was such an amazing experience to walk the halls and reflect on great memories from the old high school days,” said McCarley, associate superintendent of communications and community relations. “It makes me so proud to see the entire school come together to show their support of alumni. I feel confident that Rayburn will continue to keep the Texans legacy going strong.”
