The Pasadena ISD communication team brought home the prestigious platinum award at the annual Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) conference held in Denton, Texas, this week.

The team submitted their social media plan titled McDonald’s Texas Invitational-Media Transformation, which outlined the overwhelming success of their innovative approach to market the largest basketball tournament in Texas.

The annual TSPRA conference is an opportunity to highlight the work of communication professionals from all across Texas.  The conference allows individuals to attend professional development classes and network amongst peers.

The most anticipated event of the week is the star awards banquet; this is where the best of the best in Texas school PR compete in over 60 categories.

Pasadena ISD Communications Director, Art Del Barrio was honored with the 2021 Professional Achievement award.  Meant for an individual who holds a professional membership in TSPRA for at least ten years and exhibits a creative, dedicated, and professional approach to school communications.

“It was truly an honor and a blessing to be recognized by my peers,” said Del Barrio, “I am grateful to be surrounded by so many people that rise to the occasion for their districts by showcasing student successes.”

Pasadena ISD received a gold star and a Best of Category medal for the Vanguard Community Service program, which highlights seniors with the most volunteer work in the district.

“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the communication team,” said, Reesha Brown Edwards, PISD communication coordinator. “We strive hard to ensure that these amazing students receive the recognition they deserve.  And this is just one part of that effort.”
