The Pasadena ISD Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure team had another banner year thanks to the efforts of team captain Dr. Karen Holt and several district schools.

Pasadena ISD ranked first amongst all the teams in the greater Houston area raising $97,611, nearly $5,000 above last year's total. Over the past 10 years of participating, the district has donated $628,587 by selling their breast cancer awareness shirts.

The t-shirts, sold in the month of October, read "I will fight the good Fight, I will finish the Race, I will be a Survivor" and contained the names of 172 employees in the district who were personally touched by the disease. Of those names, 141 were survivors and 31 women who unfortunately succumbed to the disease.

The top three school who raised money were Melillo Middle School finished raising $17,489, Rick Schneider Middle School raising $17,075 and Garden’s Elementary raising $4,369.

Thank you to everyone who donated and worked to raise money for the cause!
