One elementary and four intermediate school assistant principals were named at the Pasadena ISD summer board meetings.

Each of these assistant principals are former Pasadena ISD teachers at various grade levels and many are members of the Aspiring Administrators group, which serves to prepare those employed by the district to become administrators.

A math teacher and basketball coach at Dobie High School since 2006, Trevor Parker, was hired for the position of assistant principal at South Houston Intermediate School. A graduate of the University of Houston Clear Lake with a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Parker also holds a master’s in education administration from Lamar University.

Jaclyn Sweet will stay at her home campus of 11 years, Park View Intermediate, as assistant principal. Sweet was formerly a special education life skills and health teacher at the campus. Sweet has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Stephen F. Austin University and a master’s in educational management from the University of Houston Clear Lake.

Previously a fifth grade teacher at Beverly Hills Intermediate School for 14 years, Travis Teichelman was hired as assistant principal of Thompson Intermediate School. Teichelman earned his bachelor’s of arts in criminal justice from Stephen F. Austin University and also holds a master’s degree in educational management from the University of Houston Clear Lake.

Christine Veltman will leave her role of 9 years as a teacher at Bondy Intermediate School to become an assistant principal at Thompson Intermediate School. A graduate of the University of Houston, Veltman holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. Veltman earned her master’s of education degree in education administration from the University of St. Thomas.

Former Dyslexia intervention teacher at Queens Intermediate School, Kimberlee Villarreal, will take on the position of assistant principal at Teague Elementary. Villarreal has worked at Pasadena ISD schools since 1998. Villarreal earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and holds a master’s of education degree in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas. 

These new administrators will officially be introduced to their students on the first day of school, August 25, but will immediately begin working with their colleagues to prepare for the 2015-16 school year.
