sideChannel 13 news reporter Cynthia Cisneros returned to South Houston High School, her alma mater, on Friday to speak to Workforce Solutions students about the need to pursue the training needed to compete for jobs in the area.

Cisneros, a 1978 South Houston graduate, talked about growing up in the community four decades ago and the many opportunities – and obstacles – that await young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Cisneros, who attended the University of Houston, is now the vice president of community affairs at Channel 13. She has worked for the station since 1989.

Workforce Solutions teams with Neighborhood Centers to promote training and career job opportunities for local high school students. Cisneros was one of a series of speakers to address the students this school year.
