side boxTwo Memorial High seniors have been selected as recipients of $2,000 scholarships awarded by the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame.

Scholarship winners are Jacob Minter, a captain of the Mavericks’ football team, and Breanna Aaron, a first-team District 22-6A selection for the Lady Mavericks’ volleyball team.

The Memorial duo will be officially awarded their scholarships during the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame’s induction banquet on April 11 at Phillips Field House. Guest emcee David McWilliams, the former head football coach at the University of Texas, will make the presentation.

Minter lettered two years in football for the Mavericks, earning academic all-district honors both seasons. Also a Memorial powerlifter, he is currently participating in the discus and shot put events in track.

A member of the National Honor Society and student council at Memorial, Minter plans to attend Baylor and major in biology.

Aaron lettered two years in volleyball, earning second-team all-state honors this season in addition to her first-team all-district laurels. She was named the team’s MVP last season and top offensive player.

She plans to attend Texas A&M and major in agribusiness.
